The 2nd edition of the course-contest Projects with students and gvSIG Batoví has finished. Still hearing the echoes of the closing event we want to make a brief summary of this process.
It was not only -or simply- a contest: it was a whole set of actions that included:
- training sessions for teachers
- adaptations and updates of gvSIG Batoví software for the Plan Ceibal (Ubuntu) and individuals (Windows)
- manuals and tutorials for the installation and execution of gvSIG Batoví
- update of the Batoví website inside the ICT Toolboxes -Valijas de TICs (on the Ceibal website)
- b-learning design (virtual course + face-to-face workshop)
- Preparation of workshop guide
- creation of the contest rules
- choice of awards
- agreement with the Faculty of Engineering (UdelaR) for choosing student from Cartography to work as tutors for each participating team
- arrangement of spaces on the Crea2 platform (for online learning), for each project, for monitoring them, evacuating doubts, exchanging information, etc.
- Training workshop on the use of the Crea2 platform
- exchanges between the coordinating team and the teams through telemeetings
- defense of projects through videoconferences
- socialization of the results, delivery of prizes, diplomas and certificates
- contest of logos of each project
- GeoForAll diploma to the winning team
- evaluation with professors and tutors
Here the announcement of the winners:
«First of all we would like to congratulate all of you again for the excellent work you have done, for the effort and dedication, and for the results you have obtained. The fact of facing an instance like this one was a big challenge, both for those who organize the course -contest, but above all for those who have decided to participate, didn’t give up and finish the whole process. For all the teams it was the first time they faced a contest like this and what has been done really surprise and amaze us.
That said, the jury met, evaluated each work according to the rubric that was opportunely shared by this means, and arrived at a decision. You will understand that it was a difficult task because of the high level of the works presented – in spite of its variety -. This perception is not exaggerated and you yourselves will notice it in the near future.
The jury has decided that the 3 finalist teams are (in numerical order of project):
Project 3: La Teja moves forward
Project 8: Aiguá 180
Project 10: A space to grow, learning
Nothing remains but to express our congratulations to its members. «
Finally, the jury decided to award the first prize to project 10: A space to grow, learning from liceo (High School) Punta del Este, first mention to project 8: Aiguá 180 from Liceo Aiguá and the second mention to project 3: Avanza La Teja from liceo No. 47 of Montevideo.
